Arrival at the airport, welcome of the guests from our representative. As arrival is early in the morning we will grasp this opportunity to get acquainted to Athens city by starting our city tour and sightseeing. Departing from the airport our fist stop as we reach the city center will be the Panathinaiko Stadium where the 1st modern Olympic Games took place in 1896 (short stop). Tour will pass by the Prime Minister’s residence, Ex Royal Palace guarded by the colorful Evzones and after to Zappion (Conference and Exhibition Hall).  Proceed to Temple of Olympian Zeus. Tour will continue to pass by National Garden, Hadrian’s Arc, St. Paul’s Church, Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Schliemann’s House (Nomismatic Museum), Catholic Cathedral, Academy, University, National Library, Old Parliament, Constitution Square, Russian Orthodox Church. After that we will visit the famous and astonishing hill of Acropolis. Visit the famous monuments of Propylae, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion and of course the masterpiece of ancient Greek architecture, the Parthenon. Then we will go by foot on the new Acropolis Museum. Transfer to the hotel for check in and some rest. Free afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight in Athens.

In the morning, after breakfast, we will depart for a full day 3 island cruise, sailing from the port of Piraeus, our first stop is the Island of Hydra, one of the favorite resort islands of the international “Jet-Set”. This unique picturesque island, famous for the architecture of its houses and the narrow pedestrian streets full of designer boutiques will astonish you. In Hydra you have time at leisure for strolling, shopping or swimming. In the early afternoon sail for the Island of Aegina, passing through the narrow strait separating the Peloponnesian coast from the island of Poros. Aegina is famous all over the world for the excellent quality of its pistachio nut production. Upon arrival at the island of Aegina, we suggest you visit the Temple of Afaia, built on the top of the hill during the 5th century B.C. with a magnificent view. This is available as an optional excursion, or you are free to walk around the main town. Don’t forget to bring with you your hat, suntan lotion and of course your bathing suit, because if you don’t want to visit the temple, you can swim in the crystal waters of this island.

As we set sail from Aegina, lunch is served on board. Arriving at the magnificent Island of Poros it is suggested that you enjoy a cool drink at one of the traditional Cafés alongside the little harbour and fishing boats, followed by a stroll along the quayside and perhaps a little shopping.  After your visit at Poros, it will be time to board your cruise boat for the return to Piraeus early in the evening and overnight in Athens.

After breakfast you will check out of your hotel and our representative will collect you to start the tour. Our Guide has a wealth of knowledge for all the sites you will visit over the coming days. First, we first drive the short distance to the Corinth Canal to the East of Athens where you will witness the modern engineering marvel that joins the Aegean with the Adriatic Seas. We will also visit the Corinth Archaeological site and Museum. Next, we travel south to Epidaurus, home to the amphitheatre famous for its remarkable acoustics and then to the ancient site of Mycenae to visit the ruins of ancient Myceneum, home to Agamemnon. This is an incredible afternoon of witnessing these amazing ancient sites including Agamemnon’s Palace and the Lions Gate. Once the visit to Mycenae concludes we will travel to Napflion, once a major Byzantine port and now a beautiful tourist town. We visit the Palamidi Fortress and the Bourtzi Castle before dinner. Nafplion is a wonderful town to sit by the sea and watch the sunset. This will be your first evening in a more traditional Greece.

After breakfast and checkout, you will be taken down to the bottom of the Peloponnese to through the town of Tripoli to Sparta, home of the ancient warriors, the Spartans and a day full of travelling through the natural beauty of the South Peloponnese. We will visit the Mystra, “the Wonder of the Morea”. Mystras was built as an amphitheatre around the fortress erected in 1249 by William of Villehardouin. Reconquered by the Byzantines, then occupied by the turks and the Venetians, the city was abandoned in 1832, leaving only the breathtaking medieval ruins standing in a beautiful landscape. The complex of the ruins of Mystras offers the image of a city with a brilliant destiny that was deserted by men and threatened by the return of encroaching vegetation, which is splitting the walls and covering the slopes, thus destroying here and there fragile traces of history. On arrival in Sparta you will check in to your hotel for the night and enjoy a meal in a local restaurant.

After breakfast and checkout, the tour continues to the north to the town of Olympia, home of the Ancient Olympics which were held here in 776 BC. On arrival in this famous town we will visit the archaeological site associated with the Olympics and the museum of Olympia, home to the modern Olympic Games and where the flame that glows at each Olympics is lit. This is a great opportunity to appreciate the archaeological site where athletes from across the land would gather. After this tour you will check into your hotel and the evening is yours to enjoy the atmosphere of this wonderful town.

There is quite a bit of driving on this day. After breakfast we check out of our Olympia hotel and drive North via the port town of Patras to Rion. We then cross the channel to Antirion on the Greek Mainland on the new suspension bridge, considered to be the longest and most modern in Europe. This bridge is one of the engineering marvels of Greece. We will drive through the town of Nafpaktos and then continue to Delphi where we will check into our hotel, have dinner and spend the night. Delphi has quite a bit to do in the evening with a large number of shops to visit, as well as a large number of restaurants and bars. This good opportunity to see a snapshot of Modern Greek life out of the cities.

After breakfast and check out, we make the short drive to the archaeological site of Delphi, home to the oracle and the most sacred of sites in Greece. Delphi is an amazing place, full of history and mythology. You will be guided around the site, and our guide will amaze you with stories of this mysterious and atmospheric place. The well preserved ruins in the backdrop of the mountains around Mount Parnassos are extraordinary. Along with a tour of the site you will visit the Delphi Museum with its fascinating treasures. After your time at Delphi has finishes, we will start our short journey back to Athens where you will be taken to your hotel for your final evening in Greece. The evening is yours to explore the Plaka and Central Athens at the base of the Acropolis, or if you choose, relax before your return home.

After breakfast and check out, free time for leisure. As your return flight is later this evening, you will have plenty of time for some last minute shopping. You can indulge yourself while bronzing at the magnificent Attica Mall or Mac Arthrour Glen discount Mall for some last shopping. At the arranged time you will be transfer to the airport for your flight home, ending an eventful holiday in this colourful and ancient land.
